I’m a part of a writing group and after our quarterly conference calls, we do a writing challenge over email. The last challenge was to write an alpha poem. Not being a poet, I groaned, especially since I had contempt prior to investigation about writing an alpha poem. Isn’t that what we did in kindergarten? But one day, the word serenity popped into my head as a possible for the alpha poem and I set to work. It was much more challenging than I had anticipated, and fun! I’m hoping to get back into regular blogging–not that there has been any more than one post here so far–so I thought I’d post this poem as a start. This site isn’t yet to my liking as far as the template and what not, so hopefully there will be some changes. Okay, on to something creative!

Sunshine of the spirit flows through me like liquid,
energizing my soul with a constantly
renewing sense of gratitude, instrumental for
enduring the challenges which are part of a human life.
Never in my wildest dreams did I
imagine that a beautiful life could emerge out of blindness.
Trying each and every day to be the woman I want to be, continues to
yield immeasurable happiness and serenity.
It was good to step out of my comfort zone and try something new with that poem. Thanks for reading!
